Fishway
As I was experimenting with stitch patterns to use in the 2022 LYS Tour pattern, my family and I were on vacation in the Columbia Gorge. We stopped at Bonneville Dam, where my kids were fascinated by the fish ladder (also called a fishway) and its viewing room. I realized that the stitch pattern I was swatching - the one that appears in this pattern - looks very much like the pool-and-weir model of fishway that Bonneville Dam uses, so that’s how this pattern got its name.
Fishway is a lightweight summer infinity scarf in two sizes; it uses two yarns that contrast both in color and texture to make the simple slipped-stitch pattern pop. We’d love to see it worked in handspun or a heavier weight of yarn to see how that changes things up!
Great pattern for learning / practicing: mosaic knitting, mattress stitch seaming, alternate method of grafting
