The Fleur Tee is a pointelle lace tee knitted in a fingering weight cotton linen yarn. This breezy top is delicate in its pointelle patterning, yet rustic with cotton linen yarn. With an easy to memorize eyelet pattern, there is interest throughout each row while being a relaxing project.

CONSTRUCTION

The Fleur Tee is worked bottom-up in the round, beginning with an italian tubular cast-on and 1x1 ribbing at the hem. The entire project is worked in a pointelle pattern. The body is knitted to the desired length, then split to work the front and back separately. The neckline is made by placing some stitches on hold while working 1 shoulder at a time. The front and back pieces are seamed together, then stitches are picked up around the neck opening and knitted in 1x1 ribbing. Stitches are picked up around the armhole opening and short rows are worked to create the sleeve shape, then worked in the round to the desired length of sleeve, and finally finishing in 1x1 ribbing.

This top is designed with -2” to -3” (-5 to -7.5 cm) of negative ease in the body for a snug fit that drapes straight through the body. The sample pictured is worn with -2” (-5 cm) of negative ease. If between sizes, size down. Adjust body & sleeve length by simply knitting more or less rounds.

This pattern requires a working knowledge of: knitting & purling both flat & in the round, lace knitting, reading charts, decreasing, picking up stitches, german short rows, seaming, tubular cast on, and tubular bind off.

Circular needles are used to work in the round for the body, then split to work flat for the top. The sleeves are made with short or long circular cables using magic loop technique.

Cast-on and bind-off methods suggested in this pattern are able to be substituted with any other method.
