Enjoy!
The Flow DK cardigan is the third member of the Flow family, and the perfect piece to throw on when the days begin to get chilly.
PATTERN NOTES:
The garment is worked flat from the top down, starting with a twisted rib neckband, followed by the decorative cable pattern on the yoke.
Short rows are used to raise the back and improve the fit at the neckline. Shaping is done within the cable pattern, finishing with a few increase rows at the bottom of the yoke. Once this is complete, body and sleeves are separated, and the body is finished flat.
The piece is then turned inside out, and the sleeves are finished in stockinette in the round.
The pattern also provides some helpful tips on how to adjust it to suit your own preferences.
SIZES:
1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9)
to fit chest circumference 75 (85, 95, 105, 115) (125, 135,145, 155) cm/30 (34, 38, 42, 46) (50, 54, 58, 62)“
I recommend choosing a size with 7.5 cm/3” - 20 cm/8” positive ease to get a comfortable fit. Samples are shown in size 3, worn with approx. 11.5 cm/4½“ positive ease on a 94.5/37¼” chest.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:
Chest circumference: 86 (95.5, 106, 115.5, 126) (134.5, 145, 155.5, 164) cm/34½ (38½, 42½, 46¼, 50½) (53¾, 58, 62¼, 65½)“.
More detailed measurements are shown in the schematic in the photos.
YARN:
Isager - Alpaca 2 (50% Camelid - Alpaca /50% Wool - Merino; 250 m (273 yd)/50 g) - light fingering weight.
Great British Yarns Union Range - Yomper Lace (70% Wool - Falkland Organic Merino/30% Camelid - UK Alpaca; 600 m (230 yd)/100 g) - lace weight.
Both yarns are held together.
Sample shown in colorways:
E3s (Alpaca 2)
4 (5, 5, 6, 6) (6, 7, 7, 8) skeins
Undyed (Yomper lace)
2 (2, 2, 3, 3) (3, 3, 3, 4) skeins
Or any other DK weight yarn or combination of yarns that gives you a fabric you like at the listed gauge.
YARDAGE:
approx. 990 (1078, 1188, 1275, 1365) (1490, 1590, 1728, 1820) m/1083 (1179, 1299, 1394, 1493) (1629, 1739, 1890, 1990) yd of each yarn, both held together, or in one strand of DK weight yarn worked only.
NEEDLES:
4.5 mm/US 7 circular needle (100 cm/40” 80 cm/32” and 60 cm/24”) or size needed for gauge.
4.0 mm/US 6 circular needle (80 cm/32” and 60 cm/24”) or one size smaller than gauge needle.
GAUGE:
22 sts and 28 rows in 10 cm/4” on larger needle in stockinette, with both yarns held together, worked flat (blocked).
Row gauge is especially important for this design, since it defines the yoke depth and therefore the fit around the shoulders.
OTHERS:
Tapestry needle
Stitch markers
Waste yarn
BUTTONS:
7 (7, 7, 7, 7) (7, 7, 8, 8) buttons (1.9 cm/¾“ diameter)
