This pattern includes two variations of the same motif of stranded knit leaves and embroidered flower buds. One hat is a tighter beanie shape and the other is a looser tam shape. The tam can be stretched on a plate to make it an authentic tam shape or blocked rounder as I’ve done on here. The design motif on top was inspired by a daisy shaped flower. I’ve included some tips in the pattern, including changing out colors, varying the length of rib, and other things to personalize the hat to your preferences. Four different colored hanks/balls of yarn are used per hat. Note: the yarns are not interchangeable, but specific to either the beanie or the tam. If you want to make the beanie larger I give tips on how to do this.

Gauge (measured on a blocked swatch) over stranded knitting on size 3 (3.25mm) needles:
Beanie: 27sts & 26 rows = 4”/10cm (Elemental Effects Shetland Fingering)
Tam: 28sts & 31 rows = 4’/10cm (Jamieson’s Shetland Spindrift)

Measurements:
Beanie: Circumference above rib approx 21”/53cm, height approx 8 1/2”/22cm
Tam: Circumference above rib approx 26”/66cm or stretched on a 10”/25.5cm plate approx 29 1/2”/74cm, height approx 9 3/4”/25cm or stretched on a plate approx 9”/23cm

Skills needed: working from a chart, working in the round, stranded knitting, using dpns, knowing how to embroider a Daisy Stitch and French Knots.

Includes two additional colorways. The blues colored tam is stretched on a plate for a authentic shape.
