The Flower Farm Bandana is an asymmetrical cowl decorated with slipped-stitch stripes in two contrast colors. The slips and purls create the effect of interlocking colors, but only one color is worked per row. The bandana is knit flat as a triangle; overlapping and seaming the points allows for no-fuss wear, and you can customize the snugness of your cowl by adjusting the overlap as desired. The braided fringe, worked as a series of tassels applied with a crochet hook, adds a note of casual elegance.

This pattern was created for the annual Flock Fiber Festival collaboration between San Juan Woolworks, Skagit Woolen Works, and Local Color Farm and Fiber. We botanically dyed and milled a special DK-weight Finn-cross yarn for the 2025 show. The kits are generous; depending on your gauge, you may be able to make a second cowl for a friend! You can substitute any DK yarn in the following quantities:

Yarn A: 120 yards
Yarn B: 35 yards
Yarn C: 35 yards
