Fluens is a drop-shoulder lightweight tee with crew neckline and a fun color-block detail. The color blocking is done using short rows, making the two colors appear to flow smoothly into each other creating some visual interest. The word “fluens” simply means flowing or streaming.

PATTERN FEATURES
♡ Fluens is a lightweight drop-shoulder crew neck tee worked from the top-down (See CONSTRUCTION below)

♡ The tee is designed to be worn with 0-8” (0-20 cm) of positive ease at the chest. Depending on the yarn’s fiber content and the ease you knit with, Fluens can be worn alone as a summer top or layered for transitional weather. Choose a size based on your preferred fit and styling.
Sample shown in size 2, being worn on a 36” chest.

♡ The color-block detail is worked using short rows. Directions are given in the pattern to work the short row color-block detail as a slightly shallow curve as shown in the sample or a sharp V .

♡This tee is designed with a folded hem detail at the neck, sleeves and bottom hem for a refined look. However, a few different alternatives are suggested in the pattern as well.

CONSTRUCTION
Fluens is worked seamlessly from the top-down in one piece. The construction begins at the back yoke using color A, with short rows for shoulder shaping. The back is worked flat until 2 inches before the end of the armhole, where the color-block short rows are worked. Using color B, complementing short rows are worked to finish the color-block detail and complete the armhole.

Then stitches are picked up and knitted at the sides for the front left and right shoulders which are worked separately and then joined to form the front. The front is worked back and forth and the neckline is shaped simultaneously. Color-block short rows are worked similarly to the back piece. The front and back are joined at the underarm.

The rest of the body is knit using color B until the hem. The neck, sleeves and bottom hem of the tee are finished with folded hem using color A.
