Folia Crescent
This is the first design in my La Folia Collection, which showcases the possibilities of a simple leafy lace stitch contrasting with garter stitch, and strong geometric shapes.
Folia Crescent’s central triangle of lace evokes a garden of growing vines and climbing shoots. The crescent shape curves gracefully around your neck and shoulders, and gives you a good-sized shawl from one skein of sock yarn. The shawl can be easily enlarged if you wish.
With stitch markers keeping track of the lace/garter boundary, this is a straightforward knit. Skills needed include the garter tab cast on, simple lace knitting and an i-cord bind off. Choose between fully written instructions or charted + written instructions.
Materials: 1 skein of Miss Click Clack’s Merri Creek Sock Yarn (80% superwash merino, 20% nylon; 409yds/374m per 100g) in ‘Ambergris’, or 406 yards / 371 metres of fingering-weight yarn. You will also need 2 stitch markers, a needle for weaving in the ends, and blocking wires (optional).
Sizing: 58”/147cm wingspan and 13”/33cm depth, easily altered by working a different number of 6-row pattern repeats.
Pattern is for personal use only.
