Folkloric Wrist Warmers

What is this? The diagram is based on wrist warmers from the area around Vaasa. The design is traditional, dating back to around the 1870’s, and there is no copyright to the pattern. The reason as to why I’ve stated myself as the designer, is that I cannot share the diagrams and instructions without signing them with my own name. But I am also sharing my own analyses, experiences and tips on the design - and this text is in Swedish.
Regarding the choice of colours: Since Karleby had a big harbour and was a rich town, they early got aniline colours from Germany. All sorts of strong colours were quickly popular, so it is quite OK to use strong colours in this pattern - even bright pink and purple!
On request, I’ve also made a version with black instead of green and blue, but that’s a personal modernization!
Regarding the choice of size: Measure your had where it is broadest (around palm and thumb). If you have a different gauge than the specified, you may need to adjust the diagram a little. Viewing two or three of the diagrams you will see that it’s no problem to adjust it.
Instructions: The cuffs are made in tapestry crochet in the round. The fringe is a so called “kvalfrans” (a Swedish word for this type of crocheted fringe, see my pattern “Nordic Folkloric Crocheted Fringe”).
Gauge: Around 35 sts x 35 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Sizes: S = 22 cm (8.5”), M = 23.5 cm (9¼“), L = 25 cm (10”)

Point of interest: I found a photo of this exact pattern when looking up “Tapestry crochet” on Wikipedia!
