For Summer Afternoons
“This lovely creation is a shining example of the way in which knitting pins and crochet hook, plus a little spare time pleasantly occupied, can give you a guineas’ worth of chic for an actual expenditure of about half-a-crown. You won’t find it difficult to make.” (Stitchcraft, 1933)
A typical 1930s design with a bow embellishment at the neck and a scooped, rounded neckline. It is fitted at the hem and fuller in the body. The rib hem is knitted, and the main body and sleeves are crocheted to create a lace design.
You will need 6ozs of “Azalea” crochet wool (a pale blue is suggested in the pattern). A No. 13 (2.25mm) crochet hook. Two No. 10 (3.25mm) knitting needles.
The completed jumper measures 34” bust, 19” back length and 1.5” sleeve seam.
