Foraois (pronounced FUR-eesh) is the Irish Gaelic word for forest. The bare branches of a deciduous tree, the plush foliage of a conifer, and the soft round shrubs growing beneath the canopy are suggested by the cable motif, creating ‘trees’ similar to that found in traditional Irish woodland. The teacosy is worked flat in two pieces, which are seamed when finished, leaving an opening for handle and spout.

Only one skein of 50g yarn (Aran or worsted weight) is required, and one size of needles (5mm/US8).
Also required are:
Cable needle (optional, for easier working of cable)
Tapestry needle/knitter’s sewing needle (for sewing sides together)
Stitch markers (optional, for marking borders)

The cosy is sized to fit a standard tea cosy: Height 12.5cm/5”; Width 15cm/6” at top & 19cm/7.5” at bottom.

This pattern of mine was originally featured in ‘Knit Now’ magazine, but the publishing rights have now reverted to me, so I am delighted to offer it for sale here : )
