FOREST GLEN
The Forest Glen hat started as a stash-buster, and ended up looking so effortlessly beautiful no one would ever guess it was knit from half a ball of sock yarn and some leftover fluff!
Add a pom…or don’t. The crown looks lovely no matter your personal pomming preferences! The pattern is easily committed to memory. The double-layer hem is warm and practical. And the possible yarn combinations are virtually endless.
Why not go on a yarn-venture, and let your stash guide you through the Forest Glen?
YARN
Main Colour (MC): Approximately 200 yards (180 meters) of fingering-weight yarn held single throughout.
Sample shown in Schoppel Wolle Crazy Zauberball (75% Wool, 25% Nylon) in colour “Not the Foggiest”.
Contrast Colour (CC): Approximately 150 to 270 yards (140 to 250 meters) of a fuzzy lace-weight yarn.
Sample used approximately 150 yards (140 meters) of Hedgehog Fibres Alpaca Boucle (66% Alpaca, 34% Silk) in colour “Ozone” held double throughout.
OR Most lace-weight mohair-blend yarns can be substituted; allow approximately 270 yards (250 meters). Why the extra yardage? Because the majority of these yarns both weigh a bit more lightly, and are a bit less fuzzy, than Alpaca Boucle. To achieve maximum fluffiness when substituting a lace-weight mohair-blend, I recommend that the CC be held triple throughout.

FIND YOUR PERFECT FIT
The stitch & round multiples on which FOREST GLEN is based are now included in the pattern. For less experienced knitters who want to make a different size, the math is now provided. Experienced knitters can use this same information to make decisions about yarn substitution, gauge etc. I hope this helps empower you to understand your knitting better and to find your perfect fit!
