forget me not
Forget-me-nots are beautiful little blooms which represent true love and a connection that endures all time. Gifting a forget-me-not represents a promise that they will always be in your thoughts. A thoughtful and special gift and a perfect symbol of remembrance.
This block can be used to create a cushion cover, like the one in the photos, or even a whole blanket. Alternatively it could be used with other granny square block designs, within a bigger project.
As it is a 5 petal flower design, it could also be created in different colours to represent other 5 petal flowers.
To make the cushion you would need a whole ball of background colour, then small amounts of various colours for the flowers (great stash buster!) I used Stylecraft Special DK and a 3.5mm hook
I made 9 blocks and joined them into a square.
You could use chunkier yarn for bigger blocks, or a finer cotton for smaller flowers.
I designed this block as part of a bigger blanket ‘Margaret’s Meadow’ in honour of my Nan, who loved British Meadow Flowers. She was chuffed with the blanket, but has sadly since passed, giving this design even more sentiment. I will be adding more blocks from the blanket soon.
