Forgotten Gem Mittens are a wonderful opportunity to be creative and play with colors that don’t have to match! The mittens use a main color and four contrast colors. The forearm is made with the main color and consists of decreases after which the contrast colors are introduced. The wrist is completed in a 2x2 rib pattern for a snug fit. Moss stitch is utilized in the hand. The thumb is created in garter stitch.

This design is a great project to learn how to knit in the round, switch colors, use different simple knitting stitches and how to create a thumb gusset. The left and right mittens follow the same directions.

These mittens provide a new home for the little gems in your yarn stash that you simply can not part with until now. Five colors are used in this pattern. There is the option to use a single color throughout the mitten creation and at the end of the pattern there are notations on how to create the mitten with one color.

Take your favorite main color and add in those little mini skeins or the remnants that have memories of the beautiful past creations your hands have made. Lets get creative, my knitting friends. ❤️
