Fougasse aux herbes
Wrap yourself in a cozy cardigan with a leafy touch of ventilation on sleeves and back courtesy of the Fougasse aux herbes lace pattern (charted and written). Integrated button bands in the deep Garter Stitch edges make for minimal finishing. Fougasse aux herbes, the bread (see recipe on last page), is similar to focaccia with slashes through the dough to form an open leaf shape.
Note: This is a seamless, one-piece design except for seaming up the sleeves during finishing. Alternatively sleeves could be worked in the round, if your flat vs. in-the-round gauge is close enough. I prefer working both sleeves and body in the same way, but that’s just me.
What you’ll love about knitting Fougasse aux herbes:
- Elegant (but not difficult to knit) lace pattern presented in chart and written form
- Clever saddle-shoulder construction keeps the lace going up onto your shoulders
- Buttonholes worked as you go (on both sides, so you’ll know exactly where to sew on those buttons during finishing)
- Minimal finishing
What you’ll love about wearing Fougasse aux herbes:
- Longer length is cozy (I’ve been wearing this since the end of March 2020 - it’s my cuddly pandemic sweater)
- Lace panels provide beauty (and a little ventilation)
- Baking your own delicious Fougasse aux herbes (recipe included at end of pattern)
