Thanks everybody who participated in the KAL! The following text is not applicable anymore.
Join us for a mystery sock KAL this weekend. You and I can help fighting the corona virus. If we stay at home, if we don’t go out, if we limit social interaction we can limit the pandemic disease from spreading further. So, why not join us in knitting a completely new sock pattern, being social with a safe distance. If you have the means, please spend a little sum on charity for virus research in your country, but the KAL is (or rather was) free. The sock we will be knitting is called Freja. Freja is a very capable goddess in the Nordic mythology (Norse saga). Freja is the fighter, she can see into the future and she ensures a good crop if we sacrifice to her. The war we are fighting is the pandemic covid-19 disease. What we want to see in the future is that humanity will win this war. The sacrifice is the donation and the restricted social activities and the harvest will eventually be the vaccine that is so desperately needed at the moment. The pattern will be downloadable this weekend in March 2020 only on Ravelry. It comes in four short clues spread over the weekend starting at 20:00hrs CET March 13th 2020. If you participate you can win a fantastic price from @signatureneedlearts who generously has donated needles and a skein of sock yarn and I will host this KAL. When you have finished your first sock (or both if you are very quick) please tag your picture #frejasockkal and SNA will pick a winner which they will post during next weekend. About the sock: the features are a stretchy cast on, cuff-down, anatomic new heel with a twist (a method that also could be useful if you don’t love grafting toe stitches). It’s a sporty, quite plain sock knitted over 60sts with any fingering weight sock yarn. I’ll be using signatureneedlearts double pointed needles with stiletto tip (you really need the pointy tip for the first round) and Malabrigo sock yarn. Support is provided in my Ravelry group ”Knitritious”. Please join us!
