Have you tried crocheting with frilly ribbon like yarns yet? I had about 10 yards and wanted to make a scarf, but all the patterns I saw used a lot of yarn. So I devised this method.

Yarn: I can’t figure out what kind I used, I don’t think they make it anymore. Red Heart Boutique seems to be very close.
Hook: Whatever will fit through the holes in your yarn, I used a G (4.00 MM)
