From Me With Love
From Me With Love is an easy and versatile design created in collaboration with Gabi Fontana of Yarn Shop Lugano
The pattern comes in three versions:
Piccolo (small) in Baby Yak Silk or Kupa Baby Yak Organic Cotton (Light Fingering) AND Grande (big) and XL in Tibetan Cloud Wool Sport/Light DK.****
We often talked with Gabi about how we draw inspiration from Tibetan culture and lifestyle and how we love the way Tibetan women still wear traditional dresses with an incredible elegance and how they like to combine a darker dress with colorful multi purpose head scarves.
On the Tibetan Plateau the sun is very strong and over time it can also be dangerous at such high altitudes. While men tend to wear hats, women prefer to protect themselves with head scarves.
On the grassland, Tibetans still wear traditional clothes made with local materials but they are also open and curious. They love
to combine the wool and the natural colors of the yak with very brilliant and sometimes synthetic fabric they find on the market.
It’s quite common to see shiny neon colors, floral prints and geometric patterns all combined together in a shirt over a dark dress or wrapped around their head.
Inspired by this traditional yet modern piece of clothing, we had the idea of creating a versatile, easy knit accessory that can
be worn as a headscarf, a foulard, a neck warmer or a headband.
We called it From Me with Love and we envision it as a gift of friendship.
SUGGESTED GAUGE for the small one
22 stitches and 35 rows = 10 cm – 4” in st st (after blocking)
Yarn for Piccolo
2 Skeins in
mYak Baby Yak | Silk or
Kupa Collection Baby Yak | Organic Cotton Light Fingering
(25 gr / 0.9 oz | 116 mt / 127 yds)
Yarn for Grande and XL
2 Skeins for Grande and 3 skeins for XL
mYak Tibetan Cloud Wool Sport Light / DK
(100 gr / 3.52 oz | 300 mt / 328 yds)
The construction is the same for all designs and its super easy. The only difference between Grande and XL is that you will have 3 colors in the XL and you will need to change color every 4 rows. Best to carry up your colors as you knit to avoid having to weave in ends.
