Strawberry socks are a great first sock project for beginners or anyone trying sock knitting for the first time. The heel is simple — it’s a shadow wrap heel (a special kind of double stitches) worked in three sections across the 1st and 2nd needle in color 44. You’ll get a comfortable fit without complicated heel turns. Plus, it’s a fun, quick knit with a playful strawberry design that makes you smile.

Gauge (4-ply sock yarn):
30 stitches and 40 rows = 10 × 10 cm

Materials needed:
Kremke Edelweiss Alpaca 4-ply (25 g = 100 m / 109 yd)
65% virgin wool, 25% polyamide, 10% alpaca

✱ 2 balls color 21 (red)
✱ 1 ball color 27 (lime)
✱ 1 ball color 44 (cactus)
✱ 2.5 mm (US 1.5) DPNs (set of 5) or long circular needles (or size needed to obtain correct gauge)

The heel is worked with color 44 in three sections across the 1st and 2nd needle. It uses shadow wraps (a special kind of double stitches).

Note: If you want the socks to be completely in red (color 21), you will need an additional ball of yarn.

The yarn quantities are sufficient for one pair of socks in sizes EU 37–42. Adjust yarn amounts accordingly for smaller or larger sizes.
