The Bird’s eye pattern has to be one of my favourite Shetland lace patterns.
I named the pattern Fugla as the Old Norse word for bird or fowl was fugl. There are a lot of place names in Shetland that contain fugl. Foula is the bird isle - fugla + øy.
The main body is knitted from the neck down and then the lace edging is knitted on once the main body is finished.
I have used a contrasting colour for my lace edging.
It is a fully reversible lace shawl made on a garter base.
Depth 64cm/25in & Wingspan 170cm/67in
