1/15/11- errata(ish)-
Lately, I have gotten a batch of confused e-mails about how to read the increases as they are written in this pattern. to clarify: (the examples I am giving are for size sm, in the first increase row)
in the instructions, it says: “ YO, k1, YO, k to marker (8), YO, k1, YO, k to marker (15), repeat from * to * once more, k 133. “ there are 4 increase points, at each point you increase 2 sts, for a total of 8 sts.

so you have: 1. YO K1 YO (first increase)
2.then you knit the body of the first sleeve. then
3. YO K1, YO (second increase, between first sleeve and back)
4.knit across the back
then you REPEAT BETWEEN THE TWO STARS (* and* ) one more time:

1. Y0, k1, YO (increase between back of sweater and second sleeve)
2. knit to marker 7.YO, k1, YO (increase between sleeve and front of sweater).

OR, to make it really simple: k to st before marker, yo, sl marker, k1, yo all the way around.

Maybe I am bonkers, but I think they all say to do the same thing (just in different words)! However, I Don’t want anyone to be confused. because being confused is just no fun.

I watched a documentary about “The Wizard of Oz” which claimed that, if you pay attention, references to Oz and that film are just everywhere… and for one week i paid attention- and you know what? it’s absolutely true. you should try it.

as my contribution, i offer this knitting pattern- the funnel cloud shrug. a giant cowl with cap sleeves. This sweater is a raglan knit in the round- one piece from the top down, with shaping at 4 fixed points. Raglan increases are created using a yarn over loop, which is simple and creates a pretty openwork look. The sleeve edging is picked up and knit using double pointed needles.
