Funnel Neck Vest
A sleeveless sweater is a great way to layer on a little winter style. And it knits up extra quick—no sleeves! This comfortable, funnel-neck vest contrasts the deep texture of garter stitch rib with plain knitting, making it a wonderful way to feature a hand-dyed yarn, as done here. The high-low hem and deep side vents make a flattering outline at the hip, while the armhole edging and neck are worked with the vest for a quick finish.
Skills Needed
Knit/purl, working in the round, mattress stitch
Construction Notes
The back and front are worked flat and joined at the shoulders and sides. The back is longer than the front to create a dropped, high-low hem. The back shoulders are straight while the front shoulders are shaped so the seams sit slightly on the front of the shoulder. The funnel neck is worked in the round directly from live stitches from the center front and back. The side seams start above the cast-on edge to create side vents.
