Fur Trimmed Stocking
Please be sure to check out my blog post with helpful tips about duplicate stitch: https://bridgetpupillodesigns.com/2019/09/14/hedgehogs-part-three-duplicate-stitch/
Furry trim at the cuff, heel, and toe gives this stocking a classic “Santa” charm. The Fur Trimmed Stocking is worked from the cuff down with a simple slip-stitch heel. Basic increasing and decreasing and a three-needle bind off at the toe make this stocking a quick, no-seam project with yarns of two different gauges. Embellish your Fur Trimmed Stocking with an optional duplicate stitch monogram below the cuff for a personalized touch!
This pattern offers instructions for large and jumbo size stockings, with a cuff circumference of 14 (16)” or 36 (41) cm. The length from cuff to heel is 9 (12)” or 23 (30) cm.
This is an intermediate level pattern. Knitters should have experience with basic increases and decreases, slip stitches, three-needle bind off and I-cord technique. To create the optional monogram, knitters can use duplicate stitch technique (a complete alphabet and number chart is included in the pattern).
The gauge with MC is 20 stitches and 24 rows over 4” (10cm) in stockinette stitch, blocked.
For the Main Color in this pattern I used Knit Picks Brava (worsted weight, 100% Premium Acrylic; 218 yards/100g): 1 skein for either size stocking. Featured here in Wine #28456 and Hunter #28435.
For Contrast Color I used Knit Picks Fable Fur (super bulky weight, 100% Polyester, 71 yard/100g): 1 skein for either size stocking. Featured here in Lapin #28719.
You will also need 16” (40cm) circular needles in size US 7 (4.5mm) or size to obtain gauge for MC.
You will need 16” (40cm) circular needles in US 13 (9.0mm) and DPNs or 32” (80cm) or longer circular needles for Magic Loop technique, or size to obtain gauge for C1.
This pattern includes written instructions for both size stockings, notes on three needle bind off and I-Cord techniques, and a complete chart with upper and lower case letters and numbers 0-9 for optional duplicate stitch monogram. The pattern includes US standard and metric measurements throughout. Pattern also includes link to my photo tutorial on duplicate stitch technique.
