The Galaxy Hat is made vertically, flat, in one piece. Repeating panels are connected as you go. The Galaxy stitch pattern is created using short rows and slip stitches that are smoothly integrated into the ribbing edge.

You need to know how to work the foundation chain, slip stitch, and yarn-over slip stitch, have an idea of what the short-row technique is, and be ready to learn some stitch modifications that create the design.

Materials:
1. Yarn: choose any yarn suitable for a 3.5 mm – 6 mm crochet hook.
100 g for a medium-sized beanie.
Solid colours, tweeds, hand-dyed yarns. Variegated yarns will obscure the stitch pattern but can add other interesting effects. Z-twist yarns give a different srtitch definition.
3. Tapestry needle for the final seam and weaving in.
