Galliard Cowl
Created with five shades of natural Suri alpaca and one dyed shade, Galliard provides a splash of color and warmth which can be worn around the neck or pulled over the head for added coverage.
A galliard is a lively Renaissance dance usually performed in a large ballroom…maybe on parquet floor with a similar pattern to the one found in this oversized cowl. A simple corrugated rib flows into an asymmetrical border and then into a large field of tessellated diamond motifs. The diamond field is worked over a single repeating chart, Changing the shades used creates the pattern.
The motifs in Galliard are echoed in the accompanying Coranto Mitts,
Finished size: 17 in. x 39 in. (43.18 cm x 99.06 cm)
Gauge: 4 in. (10.16 cm) = 28 sts and 32 rnds.
Note: Obtaining both stitch and row gauge is ideal; however, if you have to make a choice, try to get row gauge. Stitch gauge can be achieved through blocking if you are not too far off. Also, try using wooden needles which have more grip on the yarn.
