Sometimes a yarn or a journey or a community inspires a pattern and with this shawl it was a combination of all three! A strand of merino/yak/silk yarn plus one of silk/mohair were selected to create a bespoke yarn that represents individuals joining together as a community. The movement of the pattern is very rhythmic and flows smoothly once it is set up, just like setting out on an expedition that becomes more relaxing and interesting as it evolves. So, pour a favorite beverage, pull up a chair, and join in his pleasurable knitting voyage.

Sizes
Scarf: 9” x 80” (22 x 200 cm)
Shawl: 17” x 71” (40 x 180 cm)

Yarn
Two strands of yarn are held together throughout:
Fingering weight, 800 (1600) yds plus
Lace weight, 800 (1600) yds
Shown in The Artful Ewe Lotus (400 yds / ~3.5 oz), 2 (4) skeins and The Artful Ewe Kid Mohair Lace (500 yds / ~1.9 oz), 2 (4) skeins.

Gauge and Needles
20 sts and 27 rows = 4” / 10 cm in stockinette after blocking using US 6-8 (4-5mm) or size needed to get gauge.
Gauge is not critical for this project but a different gauge will yield a different size and have different yarn requirements.

cable needle, waste yarn and crochet hook for provisional cast on, extra needle in same size or one size smaller than main needle
