Garden Of Marigolds
“Garden Of Marigolds” is an easy crochet bedspread pattern inspired by my “Marigold Afghan Square” pattern.
I began making a crochet bedcover in October 2018 and finished it in January 2019 - it took me 13 months to complete it but a long time for me to weave in its end. I am not a fan of huge projects and weaving in the ends.
2 months ago, I remade the border and my bedcover was almost done(except I was only halfway with the weaving in of all those ends).
While I was making the green edging, I wanted to add another design. I had used a yellow color for the edging last time but I didn’t like it so I frogged it. I didn’t like the yellow color. It somehow didn’t match the entire project and I had no other yarn colors which did match.
I wanted to add a red border, I had off white yarn and I had red dye. You can guess what I did with the off white yarn. Yup! I dyed it red and used it to make the red poppy border. Now that I’ve finally written the pattern too, I feel totally accomplished. Yay!!!
I love designing Mandalas. When I was designing the Mandala square, I had a particular inclination to use these specific yarn colors. The pattern that formed on its own looked like a Marigold flower. So I named the original pattern, “Marigold Afghan Square”.
When I look at this finished bedspread, it looks like a garden of marigolds bobbing their sunny heads and smiling happily at me. Hence, this romantic name for this gorgeous floral bedspread.
