One simply can’t have too many purses, but many felted purse patterns are either too small or too large. I wanted one that was just right. The purse needed to have classic lines and be something that both my 83 year old mother and 30 year old daughter would like. And I wanted it to be fun.

Noro yarns have many playful beautiful colorways that are enhanced when a solid color is worked with it. This purse features a simple wavy stripe pattern worked into both the front and back of the purse. The front and back are worked separately but are joined during the
knitting process so that there is no seaming when you are done. The whole purse is designed so that when you are done knitting, you are done and ready to felt.

When purchasing the Noro yarn try to find skeins with colorways that start at the same place. The purse is worked in two halves in order to produce wider stripes. The halves join on the sides of the purse and to achieve the look of a continuous stripe the colors need to match up as close as possible. The actual yardage needed requires only two skeins. However, Noro yarns often have knots in them breaking up the colorways. The third skein is for splicing in colors when this happens. Of course, if you don’t mind the front and back of the bag being different and the sides having obvious joins (or you feel lucky) 2 skeins will be enough.
