Gertie
Errata for some copies of the pattern distributed in 2024, buttonhole ribbing row 6 is missing
Row six is the same as rows 2,4,8 but you will work two stitches into the three wraps when you come to them to maintain the same stitch count and rib pattern as the rows below the buttonholes. Because of the tight gauge required for the crossed stitches the buttonhole needs that bit of extra yarn from the third wrap in order to accommodate a button.
Gertie is a buttoned cowl filled with intricate twists and turns. The pattern is charted with instructions for the beginning and ending ribbing and buttonholes. Gertie is available for purchase or it is free with appropriate yarn purchase in person from the BitsyKnits festival booth.
Gauge is not vital to the pattern, adjust your needle size to achieve the desired finished fabric. 3 - 1/2” to 3/4” buttons are required.
