Gillean Hat
Inspired by a Scottish archaeological site, the Gillean Hat is a great introduction to colourwork.
It takes its name from Caisteal nan Gillean, a Mesolithic site on the island of Oronsay. The site is known for its vast amount of shell deposits as well as stones and bones.
The hat uses beautiful organic yarns that reflect an isolated island environment.
Yardage breakdown:
Main colour: 165m (180 yds)
Contrast colour 1: 100m (110 yds)
Contrast colour 2: 18 m (20 yds)
The pattern contains written instructions with colourwork charts.
Gillean is part of the Doggerland: Knits from a Lost Landscape collection.
Doggerland consists of 8 patterns and is a collection of accessories inspired by a submerged landscape between Scandinavia and the UK. The collection uses motifs commonly found on artefacts from the Middle Stone Age and seeks to take you on a journey through landscapes of your own.
