Ginjinha is all about the collar for me, as I’ve been wanting to play with this V-neck variation for a while. I love the retro 70s feel that it adds to a classic lace tee silhouette, and think this lightweight top is a great layering piece for a number of different seasons.

The lace pattern I chose for Ginjinha is delicate but very simple, and it knit up into a subtle background that allows all the small details in the design to stand out. The construction of the placket and collar take both form and function into account, and features visible shaping within the ribbing along each shoulder. Short sleeves, shaped shoulders, and a deep hem with a chunky rib pattern balance the proportions, and the result is a well-tailored, easy-wearing sweater.

The knitting here is simple and rhythmic, and the Vovo yarn was a dream to work with. It’s light and round, and the natural heather and crisp texture within the wool highlight the wavy quality of the lace beautifully. Vovo comes in a variety of gorgeous colors, and is available at a great price point in yarn shops around the world!

As always, there are notes on how and where you can modify the fit of your sweater as needed throughout the PDF. Narrow side panels are located under each arm for easy modifications in the body. Sleeves can be adjusted as desired, and you can move your V-neck opening up or down if you prefer.

Lace is both charted and written.

Construction
Ginjinha is worked in the round from hem to armhole, then the body is split into pieces and worked flat to shoulders. The neckline is shaped as you work the pieces to shoulders.

Shoulders are shaped with short rows. Once shoulders are seamed, placket stitches are picked up from the sides of the V-neck and completed before the folded collar is worked.

Collar stitches are picked up around the top of the opening and shaped with a combination of short rows, increases, and a needle size switch. Once collar is complete, sleeve stitches are picked up around armholes and worked in round to end.
