Ginny’s Birthday Cowl
Ginny is a helper. She sees a need and acts. I see her carry out countless acts of generosity – from giving rides, to babysitting, to shopping and delivering things, to collaborating on and organizing charitable projects, to donating her work,
to knitting and crocheting items for others, to completing projects for people and the list goes on. Her selflessness is unwavering. I feel very fortunate to call her
my friend.
While we were at Muse last fall, she saw this yarn and thought it was lovely. I had this project in mind the moment I saw the yarn, so I bought it on the sneak and tucked it away, only working on it at home. I wanted to surprise her with something special on her birthday. I selected special TOHO 6/0 round seed beads that are frosted crystal with sliver lining. They turned out to be a good match for the yarn.
Choose your favorite brand and color of yarn and beads and have fun planning your cowl. I hope you enjoy the simple stitch pattern with this easy bead placement method. Although I am very fond of knitting with beads, this cowl may be knit without beads by eliminating the PB instructions. Any smooth stranded DK or sport weight yarn will work with this pattern.

Materials
One skein of Muse 2320 Fiber Co. Yarn, Osprey Non-SW DK,
(45% Baby Alpaca/45% Merino/10% Silk) 246 yards (224 meters).
Featured is color Petal.
Size 7 (4.5mm) circular knitting needles, in a 24” length.
Stitch marker.
Yarn needle.
40 grams (approximately 600) TOHO 6/0 round seed beads.
Beading surface (fleece mat).
Dental floss threader.
Gauge measures 4.5 stitches/inch and 7 rounds/inch. The cowl measures approximately 43” in circumference x 5” deep.
