Texture abounds in this realistic take on the mighty sunflower. A wide center of “seeds” gives way to sunflower petals that are worked in snug layers. The plain back of the Girasol Pillow is worked separately before being joined to the front and shaped around a circular pillow form.

NOTES

  • Pillow front and back are worked in continuous rounds. Use stitch marker to identify first stitch of each round. Move marker up as work progresses.

  • The pillow front is worked using the back loops only to allow the free or front loop to be worked into for the seeds and petals. The center section will ruffle and curl when making the seeds. It will flatten out as the petals are added.
