This pattern was inspired during a girls knit day at a garden party. The colors of the plants, the promise of spring and summer, and all the hugs from good friends spun together to form the Girlfriends Shawl. Knitted out of a cotton and wool summer blend, it is a great shawl to toss on during cool spring and summer evenings out with your girlfriends.

The pattern features instructions to knit this shawl in garter stitch with small details at the edges. The shawl is knit from side to side and features simple increasing and decreasing.

Materials:
4 skeins of Rowan Summerspun (131 yards/skein); Color 122 shown in main sample; color 118 in table top picture

If substituting yarn, 524 yards of DK or sport weight yarn OR 1,048 yards of fingering weight yarn (hold fingering weight yarn doubled).

Gauge:
5.5 sts / 8 rows over garter stitch = 1 inch

US 6 (circular or straights)

Because of the garter stitch, this shawl has a LOT of give. You can stretch out the shawl for more length or simply let it drape naturally.
