Glaciers drift slowly, inexorably downward, then in a sudden onrush of sound and energy, birth icebergs that that drift across the endless polar sea.

Knitting can be like that, too. We work slowly over days, weeks, or months, then suddenly something is born of our efforts. In this case, a cowl jumped off the needles just in time to warm our necks on the Seascape Knit Trips Alaska 2025 cruise, and now it’s available for everyone. May you enjoy the knitting!

Difficulty Level: Intermediate

Skills/Techniques: Knitweaving (also called Roosamine), mosaic knitting, slipping stitches, working in the round.

Yarn: 3 skeins Sincere Sheep Cormo Worsted (100% Cormo Wool; 4 oz g/250 yds); one skein each of Bare, St Barts, and Anja. Or approx 425 total yards of worsted-weight yarn in the following amounts:
Dark: 75 yds (Color 1)
Light: 175 yds (Color 2)
Medium: 175 yds (Color 3)

Needles: US size 6 (4.0 mm) 16” or 24” circular needle, or size to obtain gauge

Notions: stitch markers, tapestry needle, scissors

Gauge: 18 sts and 24 rows = 4” in Irish Moss stitch. Exact gauge is not critical in this project.
