Gloria Mittens

Gloria Mittens are designed as a classic and functional winter accessory with a focus on fit, warmth, and well-considered details. The mittens are worked with a ribbed cuff that fits snugly around the wrist and helps keep out the cold. The rib is worked with the characteristic mock cables, adding a subtle decorative element without overpowering the design. On the back of the hand, the pattern continues with fine cables that run all the way to the fingertips.

The decreases are integrated directly into the cable pattern, creating a calm and cohesive look and a smooth, rounded finish at the tips. The mittens are worked as mirror images, with the cables twisting in opposite directions to form a balanced and harmonious pair.

Gloria Mittens are intended as a versatile pair suitable for everyday wear as well as for more classic winter coats. They are knitted in Önling No 3, an organic merino wool that is soft against the skin while offering excellent warmth and durability. This makes the mittens well suited for regular use throughout the winter season.

Designed by Katrine Hannibal for Önling.

Procedure
The mittens are worked in the round, from the wrist toward the fingers. Stitches are set aside for the thumb, which is worked last. The cuff is worked with mock cables, and on the back of the hand you’ll see soft cables with decreases that create a beautiful finish on the mitten. The mittens are mirrored, so the mock cables twist to the right on the left mitten and to the left on the right mitten.
