Gloriana Bracelet by Karen E. Hooton
This crochet bracelet was inspired by the Gloriana, the lead barge in the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant honoring Queen Elizabeth II. The bracelet, with its shimmering bugle bead “logs,” actually took shape as the designer watched the pageant, surrounded by compatriots waving little red-and-blue flags.
Finished Size: About 7 (7 1/2, 8)“ wrist circumference. Sample shown measures 8”.
Yarn: Stretch magic elastic jewelry thread 0.7mm/.028 in clear. Available in the jewelry section of most craft stores.
DMC Perle Cotton size 8 (100% cotton; 87 yd 80 m; CYCA #0): #402 burnt peach (MC), #945 cool peach (CC); 1 ball each.
Hook Size: 7 (1.65mm) steel hook. Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
Notions: 60 (64, 68) 12x2 mm twisted bugle beads: 30 (32, 34) silver and 30 (32, 34) gold; one 28 g tube of Gutermann, Rocailles 9/o shade 773875 or 120 ( 128, 136) beads; 2 bead threaded Butler GUM Floss threaders; yarn needle.
