This project is perfect for showing off that epic skein of sock yarn you’ve been saving for a rainy day. It features granny stitch, rows of double and treble crochet, and a sweet picot edging. Aggressive blocking dramatically opens up the fabric, creating a shawlette that feels light as air to wear.

MATERIALS
Yarn
You’ll need one 100g skein of fingering weight sock yarn. I used roughly ~300 yards of my skein.

Recommended yarn: Muse & Method The Fun One in the colorway Joy, 437 yards/400 meters (100 grams), 80% superwash merino / 10% neon net / 10% Stellina

Hook
G / 4mm – you may wish to use a different hook size based on your personal tension to meet the gauge (see the notes below)

20 sts / 12 rows = 4” in double crochet unblocked

I used a pretty large hook for fingering weight yarn, so I want to talk about gauge. My tension as a crocheter is neither tight nor loose, however I notice that I tend to hold my yarn tighter when I work with thinner yarns, like with this project. So, I am a tighter crocheter on this project. Please consider your own tension when trying to get gauge for this project.

Gauge Swatch: Chain 30. Work 14 rows of double crochet. Measure your swatch and adjust hook size as needed!
