This is a fun and very quick one skein project. The worsted weight yarn is held double so any chunky weight would work as well. This is a great pattern for new knitters as it requires only basic skills. The only tricky part can be picking up stitches.

The gourd is knit from bottom up; making the base, picking up stitches, and knitting in the round. There are no seams.

The bowl is best worked on a 16” circular needle. You will also need stitch markers, one of a contrasting color.

Even after felting the bowl maintains the ridges and really looks and feels like a gourd. I knit it in a couple of Malabrigo green variegated yarns and it looked fabulous!

For experienced knitters, this is a 2 to 3 hour project (not including felting and drying time).

The pattern includes directions for felting.
