Grace Yoga Hat
This is the REVISED pattern for the Grace Yoga Hat.
This hat matches the Grace Yoga Mitts, also found in my Ravelry Store!
Grace Yoga Hat is named for Grace Yoga and Healing Pathways in Cloverdale, Virginia. The hat is currently for sale at the studio where you can find a group of wonderful, supportive ladies who appreciate hand knits from natural fibers.
I used Cascade Ecological Wool and Eco +, 100% Peruvian Highland wool. In the first picture from the top, the hat is shown in #8885 Dark Plum. In the 4th picture, the hat is shown in # 8511 Valentine. Also shown in 9332 Sapphire and 8010 Ecru (undyed)/ Any other heavy worsted or aran yarn may be substituted.
The gauge is 18 sts/20 rounds = 4” (10 cm) in stockinette. Note that it’s always a good idea to knit the gauge swatch in the round and block it. Cascade Eco + and Ecological Wool yarns tend to relax after blocking, which can affect the gauge.
The skill level of this pattern is suited to an advanced beginner familiar with a long tail cast on, joining for working in the round, knitting, purling, and decreasing.
To knit up the hat, you’ll begin with K1P1 ribbing for the brim. Using one needle size higher, the body of the hat is worked in a simple pattern of stockinette with a row of garter every few rounds. And then, a pom pom…or not! It’s up to you.
The finished measurements of the hat are:
Small (kids ages 8 and up, tweens and small teens):
19” (48 cm) in circumference, The hat’s height is 7.25” (18 cm) from bottom to top of crown.
Medium (average adult woman) : 20” (50 cm) in circumference, 8.25” (21 cm) in height.
Large:(average adult man): 21” (53 cm) in circumference, 8.25” (21 cm) in height.
