Join a summer CAL this July and learn how to crochet Graeme the Octopus with Kerry Lord and the TOFT community. You’ll find daily videos for this crochetalong on @toft_uk Instagram videos, where you can learn all the techniques you need to complete your project. For more information, see the TOFT blog.

Originally seen as part of TOFT’s Dye Club crochet subscription in a stunning hand-dyed colourway of vibrant yellow, blue and white inspired by the blue-ringed octopus, Graeme the Octopus has been one of the most loved projects among TOFT fans since his debut in 2018. The unique shaping and ‘make bobble’ technique used on the tentacles are a great way to add some additional crochet techniques to your skillset.

There are more than 300 species of octopus in the oceans of the world and they come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colours. They are masters of camouflage with the ability to change the colour, brightness and pattern of their skin to adapt to their environment or find a mate. Preferring to crawl along the ocean floor, these clever creatures can zoom through the water and release ink if threatened, and they can also survive out of water for several minutes.

TOFT’s Edward’s Menagerie collection is a series of crochet amigurumi toys designed by Kerry Lord. This crochet animal kit contains TOFT’s quality pure wool yarn and an easy-to-follow downloadable pattern. There are video links for all the crochet stitches and techniques used in the pattern to get you started and help you complete your toy. Share your progress with the TOFT community on Instagram @toft_uk using the #edsanimals hashtag.
