Grains of Wheat Shawl
Grains of Wheat Shawl
A comfy, cozy triangular shawl in one of my favorite yarns.
BONUS: You are actually getting two shawl patterns here. The smaller striped shawl and of course the full version shown here. It’s always nice to have options, right?
The first part of the shawl is worked sideways in alternating stripes and can be worn as a shawlette or cowl. Moving on, the shawl extends all across the upper edge with an interesting stranded stitch pattern.
Talking about options – For the stranded accents there are several options as well, from “mini fringes” on the back of shawl to incorporating the floats into your knitting.
Yarn: Mojave by Mary Gavan.
A sport weight, richly textured, thick and thin cotton/linen blend yarn held double throughout the project(s).
Colors used here: Pewter (MC, 200 yards), Vintage (CC1, 320 yards) and Ganache (CC2, 10 yards).
Alternatively use a worsted weight yarn (MC 100 yards, CC1 160 yards, CC2 5 yards).
Notions: US size 13 (9 mm) circular needle 32” (81.25 cm) in length.
Crochet hook size I (5.5 mm) for optional mini fringes
Gauge: 10 sts and 13 rows in a 4” square, knitted in Stockinette stitch, unblocked.
Worked in Stockinette stitch and Garter stitch. This project is suitable for the advanced beginner.
