Ganseys have a classic style and look that draw a knitter in, but the fitting on a traditional gansey leaves something to be desired. My Grand View gansey adds modern shaping to the classic appeal of this sweater!

Construction notes
This pullover is worked from the bottom up starting with the Channel Island cast-on which is traditional for ganseys. The hem and body are worked in the round. After the divide the front and back are worked flat and joined at the shoulders. The sleeves are can be worked flat or in the round from the cuff up with a flat, set-in sleeve cap. The pattern a complete package for gansey knitting. It is written for nine sizes and includes notes on ease and picking the right size for you. I also include step-by-step instruction for the traditional Channel Island cast-on technique. The diamond pattern and cables are both charted and written out line-by-line. And while the sleeves are designed to be worked flat, there’s a note on how to work them in the round with the knit side out for ease, and directions for working the cables from the wrong side.
