Granitoid, the simplest piece in Geologica, is a triangular shawlette worked from the top down. Textured short rows create the body of the shawl and a simple looping edging is worked on the live stitches to complete the shawl. Granitoid serves as a introduction to the construction method utilized in several of my other shawls, including Lichenometry, Biostratigraphy, Igneous Petrology, Glaciology, and Gokyo.
Shawl can easily be made smaller or larger by changing the number of stitches cast on. Note that, due to the nature of the stitch pattern, Granitoid will grow wider faster than it grows deeper with increased stitch numbers.
