Granny Galore Tea Cosy
This pattern (US terminology) will guide you to crochet a lovely and colorful tea cosy as shown in pictures, perfect for your breakfast or lunch table! Instructions to make the added flower are included. The tea cosy will be made using sport weight cotton yarn and crochet hook D (3 mm).
Wool or acryllic yarn will be suitable too for this pattern, as long as you can meet gauge. The tea cosy in the pictures was made using Schachenmayr SMC Catania.
Finished size of this tea cosy will be approx. 7.09” x 7.09” x 7.09” (18 x 18 x 18 cm), excluding the loop, laid out flat.
For this tea cosy, you can use the color scheme in this pattern, or any colors of personal choice. The triangular granny design will make this a great project for using your remnants of yarn.
This pattern is suitable for any standard model teapot, 1.1 Liter, circumference approx. 15.8” (40 cm), measured around the widest part of the pot, excluding the spout and handle.
The 2 triangular grannies will be worked up in rounds, and will be joined together at the bottom tips. At the tops, they will both have a loop that you can place over the knob, which will function as a closure for the tea cosy.
The crocheted flower will make a charming addition. Being optional, you can choose to make the cosy with or without the flower. Just very little sewing is required to finish the tea cosy.
