Granny Square (turn)
Granny Square (Turn)
They ain’t your Granny’s granny squares, anymore! They’re everywhere - in clothing, home decor, and all kinds of accessories, granny squares are easy, fun and a great way to play with color or use up stash.
In this version, the work is turned after every round, giving it stability and texture.
This square is crocheted with four different colors of worsted weight yarn, changing colors and turning each round.
Once the pattern is established, the square may be made as large as desired by adding more rounds. Have fun!
Materials
Four skeins of Plymouth Encore yarn (200 yards each). The pattern is suitable for a variety of worsted weight yarns. Granny Squares are great stash busters!
Size H/8 (5mm) crochet hook. Yarn needle.
Note: In the image with two partial squares, the one on the right shows the “turn” style. The one on the left is Purl Soho’s Granny Square pattern, in which the work is not turned.
