3$ From each pattern sale from July 1st out 2018 went to cancer research.
This is more than 50% of the proceeds as intended because both Ravelry & Paypal charges fees to be able to continue being Ravelry & PayPal, but I really wanted to up the fundraising, so 3$ felt more right to me!

This shawl is designed in memory of my late grandmother on my mother’s side. She died from colon cancer before I was born.
My gran was a knitter and passed the knowledge of knitting down to my mother and aunts. My mother taught me to knit when I was around 5 or 6 years old.

There is a little bit of my gran in every stitch I knit.

This design is a thankful tribute to her.

About the design:
This is a modular design, you start by knitting the mitered square, then work in sections by picking up stitches.
You work the mitered square from written instructions, and the rest are charts with detailed information to help you along the way.
I’ve put this at an intermediate skill level, but I do believe that a confident beginner has a fair chance of knitting this.

Yarn:
Version 1:
Shawlette, all one color: A Homespun House, Dale Base.
“Grandma Sue’s Geraniums”.
118 meters / 480 meters.
Blocked out to be 160 cm long and 60 cm deep at the center.

Version 2:
Section A (and every other garter after chart D):
Biffsugar Yarns, “Ice Cream Parlor”, 40 grams total
Section B and C:
A Homespun House Single Ply, “Love Story”, 28 grams total (14 grams per section)
Section D (and every other garter after the chart):
Tamiwi Colors Yarns, “Elisa”, 60 grams
For this version, I knit the center st like this for section D: K on the right-side, purl on the wrong-side.

The Story Behind The Shawl
This shawl took 4 years from idea to finished product and is made in memory and honor of my late grandmother on my mother’s side. She died before I was born from colon cancer.
One of her favorite flowers was, you guessed it: Geraniums!
My gran was a knitter and passed her skill to my mother and aunts, and my mother taught me to knit.
There is a little bit of my gran in every stitch of this design.
