Gratitude: An easy-to-knit, top-down half circle shaped, garter stitch shawl….a place to experiment with colors, stripes, different textures or thicknesses of yarns…or follow the yardage and stripe arrangement given to build your own gradient shawl….it’s entirely up to you! It’s a perfect no-thinking, scrap-busting, binge-watching knit:)

You can knit this pattern in ANY YARN, any weight, on any size needles you like. You can use a needle at least 3 sizes larger than what is recommended on your yarn label to achieve a looser, drapier shawl. If you prefer a denser fabric, go with the needle size recommended for your yarn choice. Follow the pattern exactly, or take your own road. The stripe pattern is easily changed if you’d like something different from the sample shown. Keep knitting as long as you want to/until you run out of yarn/until you run out of space on the needles. Yarn amounts will vary as will finished measurements if you modify.

ETA A helpful tip: If you need help searching through your scraps to see what you’d like to use, try taking a picture and using a black and white filter to assist in arranging your yarn in the manner you’d like. All my yarn used was scraps from other projects, with the exception of Lavandula. You may have enough in your scrap stash to not even need to break a skein open!

MATERIALS USED to knit sample as shown:
Yarn: scraps of Northbound Knitting Merino Fingering Singles (400yds/366m per each 100g skein) or other fingering weight yarn with same yards/metres to 100g. (weight/yardage will vary if modifying from this yardage per 100g)

Yardage: 548yds/502m (137g) divided in the following colorways (colors)
Color A: 60yds/55m (15g) Midnight (dark charcoal grey)
Color B: 24yds/22m (6g) Nocturne (medium grey)
Color C: 32yds/30m (8g) Sterling (light grey)
Color D: 40yds/37m (10g) Lavandula (light purple)
Color E: 64yds/59m (16g) Maurandia (medium purple)
Color F: 112yds/103m (28g) Vixen (dark purple)
