Great Brehat
A place on Newfoundland’s Northern Peninsula with an unexpected pronunciation — Great “Bra-ha”. It’s believed to be named after the archipelago, Île-de-Bréhat, off the coast of France, so I made vine flowers in the lower body to look like little archipelagos.
It’s a top-down circular yoke, worked in the round. The short row shaping for the upper back is distributed throughout the yoke depth, and incorporated into each of the single-color sections in the upper body. After the sleeve and body stitches are divided, the lower body is worked down to the hem and the sleeves are worked to the cuffs.

Gauge
To find your needle size, you need to swatch the Stranded Colorwork. If you don’t know whether your stitch gauge changes between single-color stockinette and stranded colorwork, then you should swatch for both.
Stranded Colorwork: 28 sts / 29 rnds to 10cm / 4” using size B needles
Single-color Stockinette: 28 sts / 40 rnds to 10cm / 4” using size A needles
Needles & Notions
The gauges were achieved with the following needle size. To work the pattern as written, you must swatch and use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking. Note that the pattern is written assuming that the knitter needs to use a smaller needle for single-color stockinette. If your gauge does not change between single-color stockinette and stranded knitting, then you don’t need to change needle sizes.
Size A: 3mm (US 2.5) circular needles of varying lengths for the single-color stockinette rnds and the neckband, cuffs, and hem
Size B: 3.5mm (US 4) circular needles of varying lengths for the stranded colorwork
You will also need: spare interchangeable cables, spare needles or scrap yarn for holding stitches; stitch markers.
