Gregory the Gargoyle
Don’t let his grumpy face fool you, Gregory is the cutest Gargoyle going around!
Gregory is an intermediate amigurumi (crochet) pattern written in English using US (American) terminology. The pattern includes detailed instructions in an easy to follow layout but a knowledge of basic crochet stitches and techniques used to make amigurumi is essential.
Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished item. My Gregory is approx. 14cm tall..
You will need:
- 2.5mm hook/C-2 (US)
- 8ply yarns/DK or Light Worsted, 50g LIGHT GREEN, 25g in LILAC and PURPLE
- BLACK and WHITE 4ply yarn or embroidery thread
- A pair of 9mm safety eyes
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Polyester toy stuffing
- Stitch marker (optional)
Notes:
- Amigurumi is usually worked in the round and a yarn with no stretch is best.
- When changing colour, pull through the new colour on the stitch before you need it. This will ensure that you have the correct colour yarn on the hook for the upcoming stitch.
- Generally, the hook you use for amigurumi will be a smaller than for other crochet as you want the stitches tight.
- Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished item.
- I’ve used the following yarns: o o LIGHT GREEN = Ricorumi DK by Rico Design in col. 037 Ice Green o LILAC = Ricorumi DK by Rico Design in col. 017 Lilac o PURPLE = Ricorumi DK by Rico Design in col. O16 Orchid
- I have used plastic safety eyes but you may choose to embroider the eyes. Please ensure that there are no loose fittings.
