Greyson Baby Cardigan
A free version is also available.
The Greyson Baby Cardigan is a top-down, seamless crochet baby cardigan featuring a charming chevron stitch texture worked in one piece from the yoke down. Coming in three infant sizes and designed to be fully unisex, it is a satisfying quick make that works beautifully as a standalone gift or paired with the Greyson Baby Blanket.
Construction and technique
• Worked top-down, in one piece with seamless construction
• Chevron stitch body texture
• Single-breasted button band along one front flap; the band placement can be mirrored to either side, making the cardigan fully unisex from the start
• Optional long sleeves with positive ease for comfortable layering over a onesie or bodysuit
Materials
• DK weight yarn, 350-500 yards depending on size (sample uses Lion Brand Modern Baby or any DK at 11 WPI)
• 5.5 mm (US I-9) crochet hook
• Gauge: 13 dc x 10 rows = 4 in / 10 cm in double crochet
• Notions: buttons, tapestry needle, stitch markers
Sizing
• Three sizes: 0-3 months, 3-6 months (sample shown), 6-12 months
• Positive ease built in for comfortable layering
• Yardage: 350 yards for the smallest size, up to 500 yards for the largest
This cardigan pairs naturally with the Greyson Baby Blanket as a complete handmade welcome set, and the reversible button band means it suits any new baby. Solid, semi-solid, and self-striping DK yarns all show the chevron texture beautifully, making this a great stash-friendly choice for a baby shower gift.
